Të dy Shkrimet Hebraikedhe Bibla e Krishtere janë përkthyer shumë herë, dhe në më shumëgjuhë (më shumë se 2.100 gjuhë) se çdo libër tjetër. Thuhet se janëshitur më shumë se pesë miliard kopje të Biblës që prej vitit 1815,duke e bërë librin më të shitur të të gjitha kohërave.Për shkak te mbizotërimit të krishterë në Evropë, nga Era Romakederi në Erën e Dritërimit, Biblat kanë ndikuar jo vetëm fenë, poredhe gjuhën, ligjin dhe filozofinë natyrore të rrymës kryesore tëqytetërimit perëndimor. Era e Dritërimit dhe revolucioni shkencornë Evropë dhe Amerikë sollën skepticizëm në lidhje me prejardhjenhyjnore dhe saktësinë historike të Biblës. Disa shkollarë vazhdojnët´a përdorin Biblën si një dokument historik, ngaqë aty gjendenvendndodhje arkeologjike që përkojnë me përshkrimet e ngjarjeve dhevendeve, duke përfshirë edhe vendndodhje të mundshme të Sodomës dheGomorrahs, dhe gërmadhat e mbetura pas rënies së Jerikos.Emërtimi "Bibël" përdoret nganjëherë si përshkrim i besimeve tëtjera.
